Children at New Silksworth Academy, on Blind Lane, have been singing for the elderly and delivering cards with personal messages on to those in the local community who may need some joy at Christmas time.
It is part of an initiative from Extol Trust, who run the school, to let communities know they are thinking of them during the festive period.

Emma Robins, the headteacher of New Silksworth Academy, has told the Echo that the school have still wanted to make Christmas fun for the pupils, despite the unusual circumstances of this year.
The 40-year-old said: “The children have been really excited to get in touch with our local community and we have tried to make it as special as possible for them.
"It’s the time of the year where parents would normally come into school for Christmas concerts and nativity plays but we haven’t been able to do that this year so this has been nice for the children.

"Instead, the parents were invited to watch via a live stream of a Christmas concert that we put out so the children still know their are parents getting involved.
"We’ve tried to keep things and normal as we can and I hope that in the new year we can look forward to happier times.”
Emma added: “The reactions from everyone were great and the children received a massive thank you from everyone at Hope Bank View.

"They were all real troopers standing in the rain and singing, apparently it is all the residents have been talking about since we were there.
"I’m just glad that it has all brought a boost to the community and it shows that despite the situation of the last year, positives can be taken away from it."
