Mother who lost son to heroin overdose appeals for support to help prevent others going through the same heartbreak
Cath Wearing, from Washington, set up Pacey’s Plea after the tragic loss of her son David, who died from a heroin overdose in 2014 aged just 26.
The grieving mum said ever since the loss of David, she has been determined to prevent other mothers and families going through the same terrible grief she experienced.

Now, Cath is appealing for the public's help to reach more people and continue to educate students.
She is raising vital funds to pay for transport to keep Pacey’s Plea, a community interest company (CIC) moving, allowing her to reach more schools and colleges, and attend meetings.
Cath said she needs £2,000 to allow the project to grow, and to keep helping families.

"Having transport will mean I can attend meetings and schools efficiently, more frequently and without relying on others, as well as help me broaden my work in and around the Washington area – therefore do what I can to help our future generations live a safe, healthy and long life.”
Pacey’s Plea was launched in 2014 as a support group and has had over 2,000 members, encouraging young people to change their lifestyles and supporting families going through heartache.
