A Greenpeace ship has pulled into the River Wear, sailing into Sunderland between the city’s two main piers.
The Esperanza is the largest and fastest vessel in the environmental group’s fleet.
A former Russian fire-fighting vessel, Greenpeace say the ship “has spent the last 15 years fighting environmental emergencies”.
