As work gets underway on the new leisure complex based on the former Seaburn Centre site, this impressive video takes a bird’s eye-view of the early stages of its development.

The two-storey shipping container village will house a range of food and drink retailers as well as provide family entertainment which could include crazy golf, pool, darts and table tennis.

It is hoped the development is complete and ready to open in May 2020.

The video was made by Sunderland Echo reader Davy Robson who used a drone to capture the aerial shots of the new seafront landmark.

The 57-year-old from Fulwell is retired but works on regular film projects alongside running his website Classic Car Curation.

Davy said: “We do shoots on events all over the country, so we captured our own city this week instead!”

He took the footage earlier this week and shared it across social media attracting much praise online.

And now he has shared it with fellow Echo readers to give them a glimpse into how work is developing at the new STACK site.

The video begins with sweeping shots of Seaburn Beach looking stunning on a sunny winter’s day before moving over to the stack development site.
