Brand new pet store opens in Seaham
An award-winning pet retailer has opened a brand new store in Seaham.
Jollyes opened its doors to the public on Friday, September 11 at Byron Place Shopping Centre, bringing affordable pet care to Seaham.
The store has created seven jobs and is led by store manager Janet Long, a proud parent to three dogs and two guinea pigs.
Janet said: “We’re delighted to open the doors to our new Seaham store and become part of the local community.

"As we continue to grow, it’s really important to us that we’re not only bringing great value and choice to local pet owners but also investing in the areas we serve.
“Creating seven new jobs in Seaham is a fantastic way to start and we’re looking forward to welcoming customers and playing an active role in the community – and for pet parents – for years to come.”
To celebrate the grand opening, the red carpet was rolled out for customers who were treated to limited-edition goodie bags and the chance to spin Jollyes’ Wheel of Fur-tune to win prizes.
Animal-themed stilt walkers also entertained the crowds, with Jollyes’ mascot Molly on hand to meet and greet visitors and join in on the celebrations.
Marking the official opening, Mayor of Seaham, Councillor Milford Lingard, cut the red ribbon alongside retired police dogs Ulrich and Pip.
Ulrich and Pip served for a combined 13 years, with Pip’s career as an explosives search dog taking her to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The festivites are set to continue on Saturday, September 12.
