Emergency services unite in search for missing person on Seaham's coast

Emergency teams carried out a search of the coast as they looked for a person who had been reported missing late at night, helping the person into the care of police after they were found safe.

Sunderland and Hartlepool Coastguard Rescue Teams joined County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service after they were called in to help Durham Constabulary officers yesterday, Sunday, June 13, at 11.18pm.

The alert came after reports of a missing person in the area of Nose’s Point at Dawdon in Seaham with the service helping to bring the incident to a successful conclusion following a search of the coastline.

A spokesperson for the Coastguard said: “Coastguard search teams were deployed across the area and the missing person was located by one the of teams safe and well and passed into the care of the police.”

They added that in all coastal emergencies, people should dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
