Emergency services called to two-vehicle crash on village's main road

Passing paramedics went to the aid after coming across a collision between two vehicles on a village’s main route as rush hour began.

The North East Ambulance Service crew were travelling through Easington Lane when they spotted the aftermath of the crash between two vehicles on High Street.

The incident happened at 2.42pm today, Friday, December 4, with the team assessing those involved before deeming further treatment not necessary.

Another ambulance which had been dispatched was not needed once the checks were complete.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson added: “Shortly before 3pm today we were alerted by the ambulance service to a two-vehicle collision on High Street, Easington Lane.

Emergency services attended but thankfully nobody was seriously injured.

"A clear-up operation has since taken place and the road has been cleared.”

Traffic in the area experienced some delays while the officers and paramedics dealt with the aftermath of the incident and the scene was cleared.
