Transport Police launch CCTV appeal after shopping trolley thrown onto Metro tracks

Police have released CCTV images of two men they believe could have information after an empty shopping trolley was pushed onto railway lines before being hit by a Metro train.

Officers are investigating an incident of obstructing the railway which they say happened shortly after 10.30pm on Wednesday, April 21 at the Stadium of Light Metro station in Sunderland.

It is alleged that two men walked down to the station’s platform with an empty shopping trolley before pushing it onto the railway lines.

Both men then got on a train from the station and travelled to Park Lane Metro station.

Anyone who recognises the men pictured are asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 660 of 21/04/21.
