The courts have been busy in the first month of 2022.
Here are 17 people jailed for crimes in and around Sunderland during January.
They all pleaded guilty at Newcastle Crown Court unless otherwise stated.

Briggs, 20, of Dene Avenue, Shotton Colliery, pleaded guilty in October to a public order offence, theft, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance and was given a custodial sentence, suspended for 18 months.
