The victim had woken up to eight emails from Daniel Stores on August 13 last year and asked him to come to her mother's address so they could talk things through after their separation.

Newcastle Crown Court heard when Stores, of Pennygate Square in Sunderland arrived, he lost his temper and began to quiz the victim before inflicting the damage.

Emma Hughes, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court that the former partners had been in a relationship for three years but it had come to an end just under two months before.

Ms Hughes said: "The victim asked him to come to her mother's address to sort things out.

"He parked outside the mother's property and said 'how long have you been going with him?'

"He then drove straight into the victim's driver side causing damage.

"He then proceeded to reverse into the rear of the car, causing damage in excess of £2,000."

Ms Hughes also read out a short statement on behalf of the victim which read: "I was trying to keep things civil, but now I don't want anything to do with him.

"I want him to stay away from me and my family."

After originally denying driving the vehicle, Stores, 38, admitted a charge of dangerous driving.
