Daniel Stores, 38, of Pennygate Square, South Hylton, shouted ‘How long have you been going with him?’, before slamming into the back of her motor.

Rotund Stores then reversed before immediately hitting the accelerator and ploughing into her car for a second time, causing more serious damage on August 13.

He fled from outside her mother’s home, where the couple had agreed to meet to talk about their relationship.

Stores did so without insurance and a licence, which were added to the dangerous driving charge by police.

He admitted the allegations when he appeared in the dock at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecutor Lesley Burgess said: “They had been in a relationship.

“She details that she did send the defendant a message, asking if they could go to her mother’s house to potentially sort things out.

“She drove there, and he followed her in his vehicle, and both parked up outside and got out.

“He said to her, “How long have you been going with him?’ She got back into her car, she didn’t want an argument.

“He jumped into his car and drove straight into her car’s back bumper.

“He then reversed back and again went straight into her vehicle and caused extensive damage to the back of her BMW. She then described the defendant driving out of sight.”

Ms Burgess said the starting point for sentencing for dangerous driving was 18 weeks in custody.

The court was told Stores had not been in trouble with the courts since 2008.

Tom Morgan, defending, said: “I would concur with that, other than it’s a single incident of bad driving. He accepts a single collision.

“He’s entitled to full credit for his early guilty plea.”

Magistrates adjourned the case to allow the Probation Service to compile a report on jobless Stores’ reasons for offending.

He was granted unconditional bail to appear at the same court for sentencing on Friday, July 3.
