Restaurant raided as suspected burglar arrested following multiple break-ins in Sunderland city centre
A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after multiple reports of similar break-ins were reported to police over the weekend.

Officers received a report of a burglary overnight at Spent Grain on John Street, Sunderland yesterday (Sunday, July 25) after an offender allegedly gained access to the restaurant and stole a quantity of goods before making off.
An investigation has now been launched after similar break-ins were reported at Sunderland Library on Fawcett Street and a nail bar inside the train station.

Hide AdThe force are treating all three incidents as linked.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested and since released on bail as enquires continue.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Yesterday morning (Sunday) we received a report of a burglary overnight at Spent Grain on John Street, Sunderland.
“It was reported that an offender gained access to the shop and stole a quantity of goods before making off.
“An investigation has been launched into this incident, as well as similar break-ins reported at Sunderland Library on Fawcett Street and a nail bar inside the train station. Officers are currently treating all three incidents as linked.
“A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and has since been released on police bail. Enquiries are ongoing.”
