Burglary investigation launched after a dog stolen from a property in Roker

Northumbria Police are investigating after a dog was taken from a property in the Roker area of Sunderland.

Officers received a report of a burglary at a property on Roker Avenue at 6.40pm on Thursday, July 22.

It had been reported that offenders had broken into the property while the occupant was not at home.

An investigation has been launched and officers believe that all parties involved are known to each other.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 6.40pm on Thursday (July 22) we received a report of a burglary at an address on Roker Avenue, Sunderland.

“It was reported that offenders broke into a property while the occupant was out. The victim then returned to find his dog was no longer present inside the address.

“An investigation was launched into the incident and, at present, officers believe that all parties involved were known to each other. Enquiries are ongoing.”
