Armed police swoop on Seaham street following reports a man was carrying a shotgun

Emergency services had previously been called to a three-vehicle collision on Station Road, Seaham, shortly after 6pm on Monday, April 26.
Police officers had attended the scene of the crash when reports were made that a man had been seen nearby carrying a shotgun.

Hide AdAdditional armed officers were deployed to the area and a cordon was put in place at a nearby property.
A 34-year-old man was arrested and an air rifle was recovered at the scene.
Durham Constabulary has confirmed the arrested man has since been released with no further action taken.
While armed police attended, officers also remained at the scene of the crash – which led to two patients being treated at the scene and a third being taken to hospital.

Hide AdCounty Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service also attended to help extricate a patient from a car.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “Police were responding to a collision on Station Road, Seaham shortly after 6pm last night (April 26) when reports were made that a man had been seen nearby carrying a shotgun.
“Officers remained at the scene of the collision, while additional armed officers were deployed to the area.
“A cordon was put in place at a nearby property and a 34-year-old man was arrested.
