Cleadon - Down Your Way

On Saturday there will be a coffee morning in Cleadon Methodist Church hall from 10am until noon. There will be the usual cake stall and a raffle with plenty of coffee or tea with scones and biscuits. The proceeds are in aid of Myeloma UK, so come along, enjoy a chat and help a worthy cause.

On Sunday, Oasis meets in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints’ parish hall, at 4pm. This is an alternative style of worship, which involves tea and cake, discussion and many activities. It is a way to wind down ready for the busy week ahead. Everyone is welcome.

Next Tuesday, April 5, Compass Acapella will be giving a concert in All Saints’ parish hall at 7.30pm. Together with the ladies’ choir, Tyneside Acapella, the Cleadon-based men’s choir sing well known songs in close harmony. It promises to be a very entertaining evening. Tickets are available from 536 3346 at £5, which includes refreshments in the interval.

The next production of Cleadon Village Drama Club will run from April 11 until April 16 at 7.30pm in the Little Theatre in Boldon Lane. The play, Audacity by Simon Mawdsley and directed by Bill Dodds, is an acclaimed comedy thriller which includes many entertaining twists before it reaches its conclusion. Tickets are available at £6 from the business manager on 4470493.

Soup and roll lunches will be available again from April 12 and then every Tuesday in All Saints’ parish hall. A choice of homemade soups with a roll followed by tea or coffee with homemade cake is served between 11.45am and 1.15pm. Everyone is welcome to come along.

Lingo Kids teaches French and Spanish to children from reception age to year 6 in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints’ parish hall every Wednesday in term-time from 4.40pm according to age. The classes are small and will help to boost performance at school, developing skills in communication and cultural awareness. Children are well supported and engage in fun activities to help them learn. Contact 07454383249 for more information.

The coffee pop-in, held in the Old Schoolroom, next to All Saints’ parish hall, will be closed over the Easter period.

On April 23, the Cleadon-based choir, Compass Acapella, with its counterparts, Tyneside Acapella, is giving a concert in St Gabriel’s Church, High Barnes, Sunderland. The concert will be in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society. Tickets will be available from the church.
