Car burnt out in Sunderland street as police investigate arson

Emergency services were called to the scene of a car fire in Sunderland in the early hours of Monday, August 3.

The incident – which took place in Gleneagles Road, Grindon – involved a Ford Focus.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 3.45am today (Monday) we received a report of a vehicle fire on Gleneagles Road, Sunderland.

“An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the fire, which we are currently treating as suspected arson.”
