Crews from Farringdon arrived at Shrewsbury Crescent, Humbledon Hill, shortly before 9pm on Sunday, August 2.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said on Monday, August 3: “Shortly before 9pm yesterday we received a report of a car fire on Shrewsbury Crescent, Sunderland.

“Emergency services attended the scene and the fire was extinguished. Inquiries are ongoing into the cause of the fire, which police are currently treating as suspected arson.”
