One Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue crew was called to the promenade are of Hendon Beach, in Sunderland, after the alarm was raised on Saturday, February 27, at 1.16pm.

Black plumes of smoke could be seen in the sky on a bright day with the blaze eventually put out by 1.58pm.
