Due to the unavailability of a number of members, the July meeting of Barnes Pallion and Millfield Residents' Association has been rescheduled and will now take place on Tuesday, July 12, at 7pm in St Mary Magdalene's Parish Centre, Wilson Street, Millfield. This will also be the AGM.

Sunderland Cardiac Support Group monthly meting is on Thursday, July 14, at 6.45pm in The Education Centre, Sunderland Royal Hospital. Guest speaker will be Brian Blankley with an illustrated talk on Reminisces Of Growing Up Through Play And Games.

St Gabriel’s Church coffee morning will be held on Saturday, July 16, from 10.30am to noon and is in aid of The Northern Branch of Cancer Research Uk. Coffee and scone is £1. There will also be a cake stall and raffle

Ewesley Road WI will meet in The Enid Dagg Room of the church tomorrow at 2.15pm. Speaker will be Marjorie Goodchild who will give a cookery demonstration. The stall will be bottles, jars and cans. Competition will be ‘Guestimate’, and there will be tea hostessess.

Arthritis Care Sunderland will meet in The Education Centre, Sunderland Royal Hospital, tomorrow from 6pm to 8pm. Representatives from the fire brigade, Simon and Allyson, will give a talk and advice on safety in the home. At last month’s meeting Norman Kirtland gave a talk on Forensics and told many tales of his work. There will be no meeting in August. The next one will be on September 7 when Kevin Devine, from the carers’ centre, will give a talk.

Eden Vale Residents ‘Association is holding its next meeting tonight from 6.30pm to 8pm in Richard Avenue Primary School. This is your opportunity to discuss with fellow residents, issues affecting you in the community. The meeting will include a presentation by their Community Helpers and The Speedwatch Team, which will be seeking new volunteers.

Outlook, a relaxed midweek service, is held at St Gabriel’s on the second and fourth Monday of the month. The next meeting will be Monday, July 11, from 2pm to 3pm. It starts with a short, informal service and is followed by refreshments and a chat.

The Reverend Paul Cleaver-Thorpe will address Ewesley Road Ladies’ Fellowship with a Devotional tomorrow at 7.30pm.

St Mark’s Community Association AGM will be held on Thursday, July 14, at 7pm. Go and have a look at the new facility. Lots going on including weekly fitness programme in the new community fitness room, £5 per year membership, £1 per session. On Monday nights a pre-teen club meets from 4.45pm to 6.45pm for seven to 11-year-olds. Other sessions are: Tuesday, from 9.30-11.30am, Millfield Toddlers. Wednesdays kids club from 5.30-7pm for under 10s. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday Youth Sessions from 5.15-7.15pm for 11-years-old and over. Sundays there is karate from 5-6pm. The centre is also looking for a group of friends who would like to start a coffee morning. Everything will be done for them, they just need to turn up. Tarantara is a mixed choir comprising more than 50 enthusiastic singers whose aim is to enjoy performing a very mixed repertoire of music to the highest standard. The choir was formed in 2003 and is a registered charity. Tarantara is regularly invited to perform its concerts to organisations and charities at venues across Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire helping local charities and communities raise money for good causes. They visit the North East this month and will perform a concert at Sunderland Minster on Saturday, July 16, at 7.30pm. For ticket, costing £10 Concessions £8, ring 0191 5654066.

Open Arms is a coffee morning with a support network of carers, who get together for an informal chat, time out, and a chance to spend time with other people who share and understand the experiences of being a carer. It tales place in the Aidan Room of The Haver Hall at St Nicholas Church on the first Wednesday of the month from 10.30am to noon.

Sunderland Minster Playgroup is held every Tuesday from 9.30am to 11.30am. Sessions are £1.50 per child, per session. Refreshments are available.

At St Nicholas Church there is a new event for the summer season, Afternoon teas, including sandwiches, scones, cakes and tea or coffee will be on offer at The Haver Hall of the church. These take place on the first Saturday of the month, the next one will be on Saturday, August 6, from 3.30pm to 5pm. The cost is £3. All are welcome, so go along.

Graham Thorpe, from the Royal Academy of Music, will be giving an organ recital at Sunderland Minster on Saturday, July 16, at 1pm. This is one of a series of recitals held at Sunderland Minster. The recital lasts 50 minutes. Free entry, and big screen view.
