Jet2 announce new route from Newcastle Airport to Madeira, Funchal
Holiday operator Jet2 have announced a new city break destination to a sunny Portuguese island from Newcastle airport – which launches in November 2021.
Jet2CityBreaks have launched a new city break package to Funchal in Madeira from Newcastle Airport which include a choice of 3 to 5-star hotels.
Holiday makers will be able to visit the sunny Portuguese island on a Monday all year-round starting from November 1, 2021 with packages including a range of types of board.
Package deals, which includes flights, hotel, luggage, coach transfers and ATOL protection start from £445 per person for a seven day break.
The news comes as the ban on foreign travel is due to be lifted for people in England from May 17 as part of the next easing of coronavirus restrictions.
But the green list for foreign holiday destinations is not expected to be published until later this week.
A risk-based traffic light system will be introduced with different rules for returning travellers depending on which list their destination is on.
People arriving from a green location will not have quarantine, while those returning from somewhere on the amber list must self-isolate for at least five days.
The red list requires a 10-night stay in a quarantine hotel at a hefty cost of £1,750 for solo travellers.
As the UK’s travel ban is expected to be eased later this month EasyJet has resumed their route between Newcastle Airport and Bristol Airport following a temporary suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
EasyJet is increasing flights from four days a week throughout May and June, to six days a week from July.
Jet2CityBreaks Funchal holiday packages are also now available to book.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays: “We are continuing to see huge demand for Winter 21/22 and Summer 22 from Newcastle Airport, so we are adding Funchal to our Jet2CityBreaks offering to give customers and independent travel agents in the region even greater choice.
"The stunning city with its traditional Portuguese architecture, cosmopolitan dining and shopping scene and lively nightlife, means it has an endless list of attractions and experiences to keep everyone entertained.”
