Mark Bosher, who now lives in Gloucestershire, will tackle almost a marathon a day from Thursday, September 3, to Saturday, September 12.

He will set off from the Fire Service College in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, and finish at the site of the fire station in Grindon, Sunderland, where his dad Alan worked.

And despite having run 239 miles, he will join thousands of competitors in the Great North Run on Sunday, Septemger 13.

Mark said: “My father’s name was Alan Bosher, and he was a Sub-Officer with Tyne and Wear Metropolitan Fire Brigade for 22 years. Sadly, he passed away in January 2024 from ill health following a stroke a number of years ago.”
