Taylor Wimpey North East has announced that construction of 49 homes at its Alder Park development in Washington has officially begun.

The site is located on a parcel of land formerly used as a practice area for the adjacent golf course within the grounds of George Washington Hotel and Golf Club. The development will deliver three- and four-bedroom homes, perfect for families and downsizers.

As part of the planning agreement with Sunderland City Council, Taylor Wimpey is investing over £460,000 in the local community under the Section 106 agreement. This includes over £280,000 towards education and over £145,000 towards improving highways and off-site habitat enhancement.

Mark Fletcher, Land and Planning Director at Taylor Wimpey North East, said: “We are so pleased to have started the construction of our Alder Park development in Washington. The development will not only provide residents from around Sunderland with a great selection of homes, but it will also offer the chance to live on an exclusive development of only 49 homes and be surrounded by the existing mature woodland.
