On Monday, March 23, 2020, the Government imposed new measures to restrict the movement of UK residents in an effort to combat COVID-19.
With residents only allowed to shop for food and exercise once a day and businesses and leisure facilities ordered to close, the streets of Sunderland became empty as the public adhered to the new regulations.
