The Bank Holiday weekend is getting closer, but when will Sunderland residents be able to head out and pick up their weekly shop?

The Bank Holiday is set to slightly impact supermarket opening hours. Here’s what you need to know for the weekend.

Aldi

Aldi have confirmed their usual operating hours will remain in place for Bank Holiday Monday, although these times can vary from site to site.

All Aldi stores in Sunderland are open between 8am and 10pm on Mondays.

Lidl

Much like their fellow discount store, Lidl sites across Sunderland will keep their usual opening times throughout Saturday and Sunday before changing slightly on Monday.

Stores across Sunderland are set to be open between 8am and 8pm rather than the usual 8am – 10pm weekday times.

Morrisons

Morrisons are also set to adjust their regular opening times for the upcoming Monday. Whereas the majority of their stores are usually open between 6am and 10pm on Mondays, this Bank Holiday will see stores open between 7am and 8pm.

The company recommend checking their store locator online before heading out to their stores.

Sainsbury’s

After keeping their regular Saturday and Sunday hours throughout the first two days of the three day weekend, Sainsbury’s are making adjustments for Bank Holiday Monday.

Both Sunderland stores on Silksworth Lane and Riverside Road, which are usually open between 7am and 10pm on Mondays will be open between 7am and 8pm, although other stores may vary, with all information available on the company’s website.

Tesco

Tesco is another brand choosing to move to alternative hours on this Bank Holiday Monday.

The opening times of all stores can be checked online, although their Sunderland Road store will be open between 8am and 6pm rather than the usual 6am – 11pm times.

There are no changes expected for any Tesco Express stores.

When is the August Bank Holiday?

The upcoming Bank Holiday Monday, which is set to be the final Bank Holiday until Christmas, will fall on Monday, August 29.
