While cafes, pubs and restaurants have had to close their doors to sit in custom as part of the restrictions, many still offer a takeout or delivery service. We’ve rounded up some of the ways you can still support local businesses from the comfort of home, from ordering a meal at San Marino in Chester Road, to getting the beers in from Darwin Brewery in Sunderland Enterprise Park.

1. Mexico 70
Mexico 70 do a takeaway kebab pop up on weekends. They take calls from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays to book slots for collection or delivery on Friday and Saturdays. Choose from chicken, pork, beef or falafel kebabs and a selection of sides. 2. Port of Call, Sunderland and Seaham branches
Port of Call has reintroduced its Express Menu at its Sunderland and Seaham sites with options such as surf n turf gyros and meatball calzone. 3. The Saltgrass
The Saltgrass has launched a ‘pouch to couch’ drinks delivery service to brighten people’s lockdown weekends. Some of the pub’s most popular drinks, including craft ales from Tiny Rebel Brewery, as well as nine different cocktail varieties, such as Pink Gin Fizz and Pornstar Martini, are put in 1litre pouches which are then delivered to your door. Prices are £10 per litre for a cocktail, with Pornstar Martini priced £20, and £4.50 for a litre of Tiny Rebel brews, Club Tropicana, Good Times and Hello Goodbye. There’s an additional charge of £1 per pouch and £3 delivery to SR1-SR6 postcodes. Deliveries are made from noon to 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays. 4. The Jacket Inn, Kayll Road
