Lockdown 3: Sunderland businesses doing food and drink deliveries
With restrictions changing regularly as part of the tier system, and now the third national Lockdown, Sunderland businesses have had to adapt to survive.
While cafes, pubs and restaurants have had to close their doors to sit in custom as part of the restrictions, many still offer a takeout or delivery service. We’ve rounded up some of the ways you can still support local businesses from the comfort of home, from ordering a meal at San Marino in Chester Road, to getting the beers in from Darwin Brewery in Sunderland Enterprise Park.

The Stackyard has an extensive takeaway menu of pub favourites, including its popular Sunday dinners, as well as pizzas, burgers, grill dishes and more. They provide takeaways on the following days: Thursday from 4pm, Friday from 4pm, Saturday 12pm and Sunday 12pm-2.30pm for Sunday lunches then 4pm for normal menu. Maxim Brewery are among those thankful the Government made a U-turn over the sale of takeaway alcohol in lockdown. It means they can continue their pre-order and collection service. Maxim’s takeout customers can make their orders over the phone on (0191) 5848844 and then collect the beers from outdoor tables at 1 Gadwall Road, Rainton Bridge, near Houghton, on Wednesdays and Fridays between 10am-3pm and on the first Saturday of every month between 9am-noon.
