First look at the finished STACK Seaburn as seafront venue opens

Months in the making, and years in the planning, STACK Seaburn will finally open its doors this weekend – and the Echo has had an exclusive first look around.

Spread across two floors, with 22 repurposed shipping containers overlooking a central plaza and stage, STACK will serve its first batch of street food from 5pm on Friday, September 4.

The initial opening date in May was delayed due to the pandemic and a second date of the August Bank Holiday Weekend put back a week due to Storm Francis.

But the £3million development, a sister site to the successful STACK in Newcastle, can finally bring its multi-purpose offering, a mixture of street food, bars, lifestyle businesses and live entertainment, to Sunderland seven days a week from this weekend.
