Burnwide WMC in Houghton was contacted today, Thursday, September 3, and told a man who had visited over the weekend had been confirmed to have Covid-19.
But secretary Mark Sandow said management had been reassured by health experts that enough time had passed that there was no longer any risk of infection.

"We have spoken to Public Health England and what we have been told is that because he has not been in the club for more than 72 hours, we do not need to close.”
Staff have carried out a thorough clean of the bar, anyway, to be on the safe side.
"We have been round and sanitised all the surfaces as a precaution,” said Mr Sandow.
