Sunderland have seen several players leave the club over the last two transfer windows – but how have they fared since?
The Black Cats have predominantly signed younger players who have potential to improve in recent years, which has meant selling some more experienced members of the squad. Here are the 17 players who have left Sunderland over the last year, on loan and permanently, and how they are getting on:
5. Bailey Wright (Lion City Sailors)
Wright has made 13 appearances for Singapore Premier League Lion City Sailors since leaving Sunderland last summer. After getting sent off on his debut, Wright scored twice in a 5-2 win over Balestier Khals. Photo: Quinn Rooney
6. Carl Winchester (Shrewsbury)
Winchester officially left Sunderland last summer, joining League One side Shrewsbury permanently following a loan spell at New Meadow. The 31-year-old started 44 of the Salop's 46 league games as the side finished 19th in League One. Photo: Pete Norton
7. Edouard Michut (Adana Demirspor)
Michut returned to PSG following his loan spell at Sunderland last season, before joining Turkish club Adana Demirspor on loan last summer. After a challenging start in Turkey, the 21-year-old has become a more regular starter since the turn of the year, making 23 league appearances. Photo: YAGIZ GURTUG
