Sunderland have again been linked with a summer move for Bristol City centre-back Aden Flint - and Adam Matthews could be used in a swap-deal.
The 26-year-old, former Swindon Town defender, was first linked with a move at the turn of the year.
Sunderland right-back Matthews, who joined the club last summer for a fee of £2million from Celtic, spent the second half of the season on loan at Bristol and City do want him to return next season.
Reports suggest Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce could use Matthews in any potential deal for Flint.
Flint is under contract at City for another three years and the Robins want to retain the services of a player who impressed in the Championship last season, report the Bristol Post.

Meanwhile, the Lancashire Evening Post are reporting Preston North End target Danny Graham is likely to prove to be out of their reach this summer.
The 30-year-old striker will leave Sunderland this summer when his contract expires and he has been linked with a move to Championship side Preston.
But his wage demands are likely to be beyond the Deepdale pay scale.
Blackburn Rovers, where he spent the second half of the campaign, are also interested but any move would depend on the approval of their new manager.
And finally, Watford have joined the race to sign Sunderland winger Emanuele Giaccherini, who is set to leave the Stadium of Light this summer.
The 31-year-old wideman spent the entire 2015-16 season on loan at Serie A side Bologna and is set to be in the Italy squad for Euro 2016.
Premier League side Watford, Bologna, Fiorentina and Lazio are also tracking the winger.
"If Fiorentina and Corvino want to call, then we’re ready to talk," agent Furio Valcareggi told Lady Radio.
"They have to hurry up, though, because he is in the Nazionale and appreciated by many coaches."
Giaccherini scored seven goals in 27 Serie A games.
