MSD Capital, the investment firm owned by Michael Dell, are set to invest £30million in Derby County - according to reports.

Dell was linked with a takeover of Sunderland last year - albeit as a passive, minority shareholder - and is now set to invest in the Rams.

And the Daily Mail claim the Championship side will be handed a sum of £30million, taking the form of a loan against the club's assets. That's treble the sum Sunderland received in a similar deal.

It's worth noting, however, that Sunderland's investment did not come from MSD Capital but rather was a private investment by MSD employees Glenn Fuhrmann, Robert Platek and John Phelan.

The Mail claim that Dell's investment in Derby will be a "commercial loan featuring strict repayment terms”, and will likely take a similar form to Furhman, Platek and Phelan’s loan to Sunderland – which was secured against the club and its assets.
