Brave Tern, a purpose-built heavy-lift jack-up vessel constructed for Fred Olsen Windcarrier, arrived into the River Wear just before 5.30pm on New Year’s Day, having left Eemshaven in the Netherlands on Monday, December 30, at 4.30pm
The vessel, which is registered in Malta, was built to install offshore wind turbines and handle equipment related to the industry, and can also maintain and repair turbines.
Its four large columns, which extend to jack up the ship, can be seen from across Wearside.
Here, we share some of the photos which have been taken of the guest during its stay so far.
