Washington Live was originally supposed to take place in June 2020 before being put on hold due to the coronavirus crisis, but now, as the country begins to emerge from the pandemic, organisers are ready to deliver an event to remember.

The event will now take place on August 21 at Washington’s Northumbria Centre and organisers are promising a safe, family fun event which Washington can be proud of.

Washington Live first took place in 2019 and after an extremely positive response, organisers have been desperate to bring the event back ever since.

A spokesperson for Washington Live said: “It’s been an incredibly hard 15 months and I think everyone in Washington is ready for a huge party and we are extremely excited to be delivering such a great event for them.

“The support and response in ticket sales had been overwhelming. It was our first year in 2019 and with two dates cancelled last year due to Covid we weren’t sure what the response would be but over a year later a lot of people are returning and we are excited to be welcoming a lot of new faces to this year's event.”

Washington Live is a joint effort from local band The Scandals and Washington AFC, which debuted for the first time last year, creating a family friendly festival with local music and community spirit.

The event will see a capacity of 1,000 people in attendance with 100 of those being frontline NHS staff who received free tickets to the festival.

A limited number of tickets for the event are still available and can be purchased via this link.

Washington Live 2021 will take place on Saturday 21 August at the Northumbria Centre and more information on it can be found via the events Facebook page.
