The musicians will perform Marching & Waltzing at 7.30pm on March 14 at West Park Church in Stockton Road, city centre.

Marking the opening of their 20th season, they’ll perform a selection of classical orchestral marches and waltzes, including the Swan Lake Waltz from Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s timeless orchestral ballet and the much-loved Blue Danube by Johann Strauss ‘junior’.

The concert will features many well-known and popular pieces of music including, the Radetsky March by Johann Strauss ‘senior’; Jazz Suite Waltz by Dmitri Shostakovitch; Dambusters March by Eric Coates; Ralph Vaughan Williams Folk Song Suite.

Completing the evening’s programme of Marches and Waltz’s the orchestra will be playing the dramatic and rousing Grand March Aida by Giuseppe Verdi.

A spokesman said: “Do come along and join us in the start to our 20th concert season with a programme of beautiful waltzes and rousing marches.”

The Orchestra is also looking out for viola players to join in with weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals with a group of friendly musicians. The orchestra has put out a call for Viola Players of Grade 5 standard upwards to take up the opportunity of playing within Symphony Orchestra.
