6. Pretty Woman, May 28 to June 8.
Pretty Woman The musical, based on the hit film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, is set to be one of the highlights of the 2024 theatre season when it makes its Wearside debut from May 28 to June 8 at Sunderland Empire. 7. Jesus Christ Superstar, June 11-15
Timothy Sheader (Crazy for You, Into the Woods) directs this new production of the iconic global phenomenon, Jesus Christ Superstar. Originally staged by London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, this reimagined production won the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival, garnering unprecedented reviews and accolades. 8. Six, July 2-6
Embarking on its UK tour, Six the musical tells the history of Henry VIII's wives in a way audiences haven't seen before. From Tudor Queens to Pop Princesses, the six wives of Henry VIII take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an 80-minute celebration of 21st century girl power.
