11 events, gigs and markets taking place in Sunderland over the May Spring Bank Holiday

From food markets and booze ups to gigs and history tours, there’s plenty happening in Sunderland over the late bank holiday weekend in May.

Here’s some of the things taking place if you’re looking for something to do.

Ryhope Engines Museum is hosting a Whitsuntide steaming weekend from 11am-4pm on May 25-27. See the giant Victorian beam engines of 1868 working under steam power. The engines provided water to Wearside for 100 years and have been preserved in situ since 1970 by local volunteers. Free entry.
