5. Elmer's Great North Parade, until November 1
Elmer's Great North Parade is running around the region until November 1. There are 50 uniquely-decorated elephants to spot in Sunderland, South Tyneside and across the North East. 6. Jason Cook Comedy Club, Customs House, South Shields, October 4 & 5
Jason Cook's Comedy Club is at Customs House, South Shields, on October 4 and 5. Join Jason Cook as the host of his comedy club, which brings huge TV names, daft guests and incredible surprises to The Customs House. 7. Disney on Ice, Utilita Arena, October 2-6
Disney on Ice is gliding to the North East later this year with its 100 Years of Magic show at Utilita Arena, Newcastle, from October 2-6. 8. Sunderland Libraries Literature Festival, until October 30
Each October Sunderland Libraries Literature Festival brings together a vibrant mix of authors, thinkers and artists to the city, providing inspiration and entertainment.This year’s festival is the perfect place to celebrate your love of literature with fellow fans, see your favourite local authors in action, and of course, discover new writers and illustrators, including talks, workshops, book launches and other events. This year’s line-up includes leading fiction, non-fiction, independent and emerging authors, including Mari Hannah, Glenda Young and Janet MacLeod Trotter. The majority of events are free, although donations are welcome.
