We’ve rounded up 10 of the best.
9. Dolly Mixtures, Customs House, until August 31
The Dolly Mixtures are at The Customs House until August 31. The musical is being brought back to the stage as part of The Customs House’s 25 th anniversary celebrations. Six members of the original cast are returning for the revival of the show, which celebrates the achievements of a group of north east women who broke the showbiz mould to raise funds for cancer research in the 1970s and 1980s. The women raised more than £100,000 during their time together and at the end of the original run of the play, in August 2016, they were honoured with a lifetime achievement award by Cancer Research UK. 10. Summer fun, Washington Wetland Centre
There’s plenty of summer holiday fun taking place daily at Washington Wetland Centre until September 2. Pick up a trail map and set off into the wild to see how many cool creatures and awesome animals you can spot following the challenges and activities as you go – don’t forget to visit the otters and flamingos during daily talks too (11.30am/11.45am and 2.30pm/2.45pm). Head to the Wetland Headquarters (1pm - 2.30pm daily) for the activity of the day where you'll investigate animal tracks with the reserve team. Photo: WWT
