Former Sunderland player Kevin Kilbane confirms relationship with Dancing on Ice skating partner
Ex-Sunderland footballer turned skater, Kevin Kilbane, will finally take on his first Dancing On Ice routine this weekend after confirming his relationship with his skating partner.
While the 42-year-old took to the ice on Sunday, January 5 in a group routine and appeared in a special Christmas episode of the ITV programme, he will be showcasing his first routine live with his professional skating partner Brianne Delcourt on Sunday, January 12.
It was announced in 2019 that the retired winger, who was signed by Peter Reid during Sunderland AFC’s golden era as he played alongside Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips, would be appearing on the show.
On Thursday, January 9, Dancing On Ice revealed the song that the pair will be skating to on Twitter saying: “Tune in to Dancing On Ice this Sunday to see how they get on.”
They will be hoping to impress the judges with their routine to Electric Light Orchestra’s Mr Blue Sky.
The Ice Panel, this year consisting of John Barrowman, Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, will then each score the couple out of 10 based on the performance.
Their total score will be added to a leader board which will be combined with the public vote to determine the lowest placed couples.
Kevin will be trying to avoid gaining a low score in the hopes to escape taking part in the dreaded skate off, where they will have to perform a routine again.
While Kevin and Brianne have been skating together as a couple, it was rumoured that they had also sparked a romance together during training.
This was later confirmed in an exclusive interview with OK! magazine when they were asked whether they were officially an item.
Brianne, 38, confirmed: “Yes! Kevin is my person.”
The last time Brianne won the competition was on March 27, 2011 with her celebrity partner Sam Attwater but can she win again with Kevin?
You can see them perform on Dancing On Ice on ITV1 on Sunday, January 12 starting at 6pm.
