As part of a packed festive programme, Sunderland BID has teamed up with the city’s Evoke Entertainment to ask people to nominate someone they think deserves a special treat.

Three lucky winners will receive a doorstep visit from a singing and dancing elf, along with a little hamper of gifts for all the family.

“People can nominate anyone they like,” said Sharon Appleby, Head of Business Operations at Sunderland BID.

“It could be their teacher, their shop keeper, their delivery driver, their best friend or their nana – anyone who has lifted their spirits and just been all-round fabulous this year.”

Families can hire an ‘Elf’ to perform outside of their homes in a performance personalised to that family’s experiences, as well as gifts for children which are left on the doorstep.

The Elf Visits are among several seasonal experiences being organised by Sunderland BID, including The Christmas in Sunderland trail of light installations and AR characters organised in conjunction with Sunderland City Council, which runs until 3 January, and the annual Reindeer Dash.

The Dash, which supports the Red Sky Foundation, is online this year and runners of all ages have until 24 December to buy tickets and carry out the 1K run, wherever they like, in their own time.

“We have a great deal to celebrate in Sunderland this Christmas,” said Sharon, “and the people of the city are front and centre of those celebrations.

“So, what better way to say thank you to that special someone than by nominating them for an Elf Visit.”

Nominations can be made on the Sunderland BID Facebook page.

The closing date for entries is Sunday (13 December) at midnight and the three winners will be visited by the elves on Monday 21 December 2020.
