In January 1994, the trophy was stolen from a workingmen’s club in the town and the original is still missing.

The finished 16-minute film, made by award-winning Sunderland University graduates Rob Kilburn Lewis Dodds, Isaac Johnson and Frank Sverha under the Tyne and Weird banner, is now uploaded on YouTube for all to watch.

Among those to be interviewed in the film are Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood, whose own play helped tell a theatre audience about the story of the club.

Rob, 26, from Seaburn, who is already looking to work on a film about breakdancing in the North East for an upcoming project, directed the piece.

He said: “Now we want to just let people know that it's out.

“It came together really well and it’s an interesting bit of history and we hope it’s something people will want to watch.”
