Patrick Topping, Sorley and Mella Dee announced for huge Sunderland house and techno festival
Brighter Days Festival will take place at Herrington Country Park on July 4 2021, and will also feature Mele, Jaguar and Alex Virgo with support from Meg Ward, Ammara, Jordan, Curtis Graham and more.
It will be one of the first large-scale events to take place in the city following the planned lifting of social distancing restrictions on June 21, 2021.
Topping the bill is North Shields’ Patrick Topping who’s become one of the leading faces of British house and techno in recent years, not only as a DJ but also as a world-renowned producer.
Sound tracking countless sunrise memories as resident of Jamie Jones’ famed Paradise parties at Ibiza’s DC-10, Patrick’s now 50-release strong back-catalogue is bursting with iconic dance-floor records on labels such as Hot Creations, Truesoul and Relief Records, with further remixes for Calvin Harris and Booka Shade charting Patrick’s meteoric rise.
Other accolades include reaching number 11 in Resident Advisor’s top DJs poll, landing three DJ Awards, one DJ MAG ‘Best of British’ Award and becoming one of Mixmag’s cover stars.
The recent launch of Patrick’s own label, TRICK, has provided a home for the UK artist to exhibit his versatility as a producer, as well as a platform to showcase the wealth of the emerging talent which he has been pushing in his DJ sets.
Mella Dee also joins the line-up and is known for his willingness to experiment with a wide range of sounds, concepts and landscapes. The breakthrough success of his Techno Disco Tool reached number 1 in BBC Radio 1’s Dance Music chart, as well as Nick Grimshaw’s Tune of The Week and went on to be chosen as one of the Tracks of the Decade by Annie Mac and Pete Tong.
His Warehouse Music imprint won the Best Breakthrough Label award at the DJ Mag awards and he was also named one of Mixmag’s Stars of the Year.
Since then Mella Dee has delivered his debut Essential Mix for the legendary BBC Radio 1 series.
Adding to the headline lineup is Sunderland DJ Sorley, another producer who burst onto the scene before being stopped in his tracks by the pandemic.
With projects back underway, Sorley has a string of productions and high-profile gigs that will be sure to see him gather great momentum once again.
Brighter Days Festival is being brought to the city by the people behind Kubix Festival which will take place in Herrington Country Park with a rescheduled date of July 2-3. Artists are to be confirmed for Kubix soon.
