Field Music among Sunderland acts to record Picnic album for city food banks

Touched by the plight of those in need of Sunderland Foodbank during the COVID-19 crisis, six-piece Picnic asked fellow North East musicians to help record a charity album for the cause, which will be released on May 1.

The band, who met whilst studying at Sunderland College and university, tasked each of the acts with recording a version of their latest single I Need Everybody for the 13-track album of covers.

Among the Sunderland acts to step forward to help are Field Music, Plastic Glass and emerging singer Faye Fantarrow.

Eddie Scott from Picnic, who recently signed a management deal, said: “This project came from a desire to have something positive come out of the COVID-19 lockdown; it's a collection of homemade demos by some of our favourite artists from the North East.

“They're all amazing and we love them all so much, we hope you do too, you could even find your new favourite artist if you're a sweet open minded soul that loves lovely talented young folks.”

He added: “We've made this album ‘pay what you can’ as we know we all have our own personal battles going on.
