Sunderland Sunday League: Longstaff the five-goal Woodlands hero

He fired five clinical goals to put Saltgrass to sword. Conner Wilson and Steven Freeman added further goals for Woodlands, but Saltgrass soon bagged a couple of late replies past man-of-the-match keeper David Middlemas.

Victoria Gardens recorded another win, 7-0 away to poor Park View.

The Gardens ran out easy winners after Humble fired four goals. Hope, Devlin and Burleigh Garth’s very own Luke Chadwick, Brad Davis, who tapped home from three yards, finished the scoring.

Keeper Troy Baker stood out for Park View.

East Rainton extended their lead at the top with a comfortable 4-0 win at Westmount.

Man of the match Oliver Hotchkiss started the scoring with a great goal. Andy Shepherd continued his impressive season with a solo strike and Craig Hennis scored a late brace to secure the points.

Ryhope CW pipped Millfield Oddies 3-2, with Tony Ganley and Luke Dodds on target for the visitors, whose star man was keeper Daniel Cullen.

Wayne Davis’s Dolphin side recorded a rare Second Division win to boost their survival chances as AFC Wearside succumbed to another defeat.

They now sit propping up the division after Chris Wilkin, Stephen Martin and Jordan Sweeney all fired home for the Dolphin in a 3-1 success, with Lee Etheridge starring.

Smith replied for Wearside.

There were goals galore when New Town outgunned Free Gardeners Arms 9-4.

Brad Foster came off the bench and capped a fine display by grabbing a hat-trick.

Before that, Josh Winlow (2), man of the match Elliott Salicki (3) and Charlie Salicki all struck for New Town.

The Free Gardeners had a good go and managed to reduce the scoreline by four great finishes from Craig Gordon, Mark Lister and a Daz Green brace. Paul Howe was their star man.

The Victory Club needed an own goal to give them a share of the points at home to Washington New Tavern, with a defender nodding into his own net.

But “wonder kid” Costa Wilson Loraine grabbed a late equaliser with a well-taken header.

Scott Turnes stood out for Tavern.

TC Plastics recorded their customary win, 4-2 against Ryhope Railway Inn, adding another three points to their ever-growing points tally.

Ryhope Railway made it easy for them after they had Nathan Cole and Craig Whelam given their marching orders by the referee.

Kieron Stokoe, Luke Bell (2) and Josh Farquhar gave the Plasticmen the win.

Danny Austin and Jack McConville scored for Ryhope before their team-mates had their early bath.

Craig Vincent starred for Railway, with Gareth Stoker top man for Plastics.

Washington Colliery produced their own Valentine’s Day massacre over hapless Mountain Daisy F&M Underdogs, winning 10-1 in Division Three.

It was another heavy defeat for the home side and they have now shipped a total of 72 goals in the league.

The Colliery were lapping it up and they had a host of scorers, including hat-tricks from Andy McIntyre and Reece Cummings.

Chris Bell, star man Keith Burnett, who impressed throughout, Steven Young and Gavin Mulvaney added to Daisy’s woes.

The Board Inn heaped more misery onto the Kings Arms, who shipped seven goals in another heavy defeat.

Kings Arms got off to a good start, with Matthew Robinson netting, but the Board Inn lads dominated from that point.

Jordan Dagg hit four goals, followed by efforts from star man Callan Lemon, Matthew Harrison and sub Clarke Sanderson.

Rob Wilson managed to hit a double for Kings, but they were never in the game.

Nathan Renton’s man-of-the-match performance set Ashbrooke Sports Club up for their 3-0 success at Penshaw CC.

Jordan Ridley was back among the goals with a well-taken brace before Michael Brown scored a spectacular volley. Jonathan Snelling was star man for Penshaw.

Steven “Titch” Conlin’s four-goal haul got Mill View CIU on their way to an impressive 6-3 win over promotion hopefuls Martin Telfer Carpets.

Abdul Alhajeri produced a cracking effort to increase Mill View’s lead. Chris Richardson let his side down by nodding past his own keeper and soon after sub Phil Hodgson grabbed a quick brace to give Telfer a lifeline.

But Micky Donkin made sure of the win after he finished a great ball from star man Conlin.

Glen Hargrave is enjoying life at The Lansdowne after his recent switch.

He marked another great performance with a hat-trick to be man of the match in a 9-1 drubbing of Lakeside SSC.

John Hope-Himdmarsh and Tommy Alderson both bagged braces before Danny Simpson replied for Lakeside. Rhys Jukes and Connor Glendenning both netted to finish the rout. Keeper Dale Atkinson shone for the visitors.
