Sunderland Sunday League: Hazy days for Daisy as Underdogs break duck

Michael Johnson put Daisy in front with a dubious goal and another own goal from Chris Richardson had them 2-0 up. Stephen Lewis replied for Mill View, but new boy Adam McQuillian hit a late third as the visitors chased an equaliser.

Keeper Alex Davies starred for Daisy, with Sean Brook best for Mill.

It was Groundhog Day for Washington Colliery as they chalked up another 10-1 victory, this time against Kings Arms.

Andy McIntyre (3), Ryan Mason (2), Wilcock, Burnett, Bell, Rowntree and Cummings did the damage, with Rob Wilson replying.

Hendon Athletic ran out comfortable 7-0 winners against Wear United to keep the pressure on at the top end of Division Four.

Anth Carter came back from injury with a bang and fired a clinical hat-trick and set up another three. New boy Kieran Moan capped his debut with a man-of-the-match performance and a goal. Bri Carter and Martin Hope also netted before sub Richie Timm’s first-time right-foot volley nestled in the top corner. Richie dedicated his goal to his brother Bradley.

Michael Parkin shone for United.

Millfield Oddies bounced back from last week’s surprise defeat to brush aside Park View 5-0. David Laing started and finished the scoring, while player-manager Tony Ganley led by example, finishing a free-flowing move.

Tom Jones shone for Park View, but he couldn’t keep the scoreline down as Nelson and Paul Maw also beat keeper Troy Baker.

The Saltgrass suffered another thumping, 8-3 at Ryhope CW.

Ryhope were clinical in front of goal and Brent Brooke fired a treble. Gav McAnaney scored two quick goals but Saltgrass came out of nowhere to fire three past Callum Bannan, courtesy of John Smith and Shaun Muncaster (2).

But Ryhope were always in control and Dan Pattison (2) and Brad Anderson made it eight.

Star man Carl Longstaff hit five goals for the second successive week as Woodlands cruised to an 8-2 win at Westmount. Kevin Hayes, Liam Middlemas and Cameron Arthurs finished the scoring before Daryl Atkinson and Ian Whelan replied.

It was top versus bottom in Division One, but Pennywell Comrades threw a spanner in the works of leaders O’Brien Waste Recycling in a 1-1 draw.

Josh Wilde netted for Comrades, sealing a valuable point in the fight for survival, but Gav Murton equalised.

Vane Arms had a score to settle after Willow Pond thrashed them the previous week – and they made partial amends with a 2-2 draw.

Connor Gales put Willow in front with a fine effort after great work from Cassap, but Rob New levelled with a fierce strike. Cassap’s great header restored Willow’s lead, but Adam Wasey raced clear of the defence to smash home a second equaliser.

David Newby ran the show for Hendon and fired a hat-trick in an easy 4-1 Second Division win over Washington New Tavern.

Chris Trewitt replied for Tavern just before Dan Young’s late finish made it four.

Craig Whelam and Ian Douglas made light work of TC as both scored excellent goals to give Ryhope Railway a 2-0 win. Scott Dalton shone for TC.

Free Gardeners hope their 2-1 defeat of Victory Club win will kick-start a battle for the runners-up spot. Darren Green hit a vital brace, with Karl Addison responding.

Mathew Brotherston saw red early in the game for AFC Wearside and New Town took full advantage to win 5-1.

Sean Collard scored his first career hat-trick, then Dobinson and Winlow made it five, with Smith replying late on.
