Where are they now? Sunderland's starting XI from 3-0 Premier League win over Hull City in 2016 - Including Kone, Ndong, and Djlobodji

Sunderland might have been knocked out of the FA Cup already, but that doesn’t mean that they won’t be in action this weekend.

The Black Cats host Hull City on Saturday night as they look to regain some ground on the teams above them after a festive period that was disrupted hugely an outbreak of Coronavirus at the club’s training ground.

City are one of the sides who Lee Johnson and his men are trying to catch up with, and the Tigers currently sit second in the table, eight points ahead of the Wearsiders having played one game more.

Both sides have tumbled down the divisions in recent seasons, and it wasn’t that long ago that this would have been a regular fixture of the Premier League calendar.

The last time that both clubs were in the top flight was in 2016, with Sunderland getting the better of Hull on both occasions that term.

A 3-0 win at the Stadium of Light was followed up by a 2-0 win on Humberside, but those six points weren’t enough to save David Moyes’ team from the drop. We’ve taken a look back at the starting lineup from that first victory, however, to see where the Black Cats’ XI from that day are now.

Jermain Defoe and Victor Anichebe were on the scoresheet, with the latter scoring a brace, and the game was also noteworthy for a significant delay in play after the floodlights at the Stadium of Light went out partway through the second half, plunging the ground into darkness.
