The Sun on Sunday are reporting that the EFL are looking for assurances from Stewart Donald and Juan Sartori before sanctioning the deal.
Donald has agreed a deal with Kyril Louis-Dreyfus to sell a majority share in the Black Cats, but the Oxfordshire-based businessman and co-owner Sartori would remain as minority shareholders under the arrangement.

Hide AdTalks suggest the EFL have asked for guarantees that Donald and Sartori will continue to fund the club alongside Louis-Dreyfus for the next two years, and that the takeover will be given the green light once those assurances are given.

The news prompted Sunderland fans to react strongly on social media – here’s what YOU said on Twitter:
@shannee66: “So has Dreyfus indicated he can't fund club without them? Seems a strange "clause" for the EFL to add, how much did Donald "prove" to the EFL when he took over?”
@danhall94: “Only we could make what was a sure thing takeover drag on for ages.”

He was being presented as forming part of a buying “consortium” a couple of months ago. He’s been here 2+ years and done nothing. Clearly intends to do nothing further. Just sell and go.”
@Rossalini22: “Weird logic tho. If they cannot show funds under the new fakeover deal, then the deal is off, and they as existing owners who cannot fund the club stay in control. Only the EFL could impose rules like that.”
@JustBrowsingTa: “This is a damning indictment of the EFL if nothing else… Can you fund this club for the next two years? Yes? Ok good, takeover accepted. Can you fund this club for the next two years? No? Ok, takeover denied. You two continue to run the club even though you've said you can't.”
@Il_Principe1982: “Can't really blame the owners for this one, seems to me like the EFL are being a bit overzealous.”
