Sunderland fans were celebrating from their homes last night as Lee Johnson’s side reached the final of the Papa John’s Trophy on penalties.

The Black Cats booked their place at Wembley after Grant Leadbitter converted the winning spot kick against Lincoln City at the Stadium of Light.

Nine-year-old George, who also appeared in our Xmas party special via Zoom, watched the match with his dad and was over the moon when the win was confirmed.
