This is why Aiden McGeady is missing for Sunderland's clash at Hull City as Lee Johnson handed fresh injury worry

Sunderland have been handed a fresh injury concern – with Aiden McGeady missing for the visit to Hull City.

The winger is a notable absentee as the Black Cats head to the KCOM Stadium looking to arrest a run of form which has seen them suffer defeat in their last three outings.

And if Sunderland are to bounce back on Humberside, they will have to do so without their star winger – who misses out due to swelling on his foot.

McGeady is replaced in the side by Lynden Gooch, while Carl Winchester also comes into the team in place of Aiden O’Brien.

Lee Johnson already has a number of injury worries to contend with, as a host of senior defenders face a spell on the sidelines.

Tom Flanagan, Jordan Willis, Dion Sanderson and Arbenit Xhemajli are all injured – while stopper Remi Matthews is also absent from the squad at Hull.
