Johnson is eyeing new additions during the month-long window, with attacking reinforcements believed to be top of his list.
Sunderland are also seeking another option at left-back following an injury setback for Denver Hume, while we could also see outgoings before the month is out.
A number of rumoured targets have already come and gone this month, with Carl Winchester the only player to have arrived on Wearside thus far during the month.
But he’s unlikely to be the last face through the door with Johnson still optimistic that he will land his desired targets before the February 1 deadline.
And this is how Sunderland’s team could look at the end of the window if the rumours are to be believed – scroll down to have a look:

The Brighton youngster was reportedly a target for Portsmouth in the summer, and is now being linked with the Stadium of Light. He is currently on loan with Belgian side Union SG, but could be recalled in order to sanction a move to Sunderland.
